Joint Stock Company "Kyivenergo" is the unique power complex that completely meets the demand of Kyiv in power supply that includes process continuity of generation, transmission and distribution of heat and electric power.

The characteristics of electric power stations and networks
The installed electrical capacity of power stations is:
Kyivenergo CHP-5 700 MW;
Kyivenergo CHP-6 500 MW;
The total length of 0,4-110 kV cable power transmission lines is 9 900 km, of overhead transmission lines is 1 600 km.
Transformation and control of power supply are executed at 60 substations 35-110 kV with the total capacity of 3670.4 MVA and 3175 transformer substations 10/0.4 kV with the total capacity of 2268 MVA.

The characteristics of heat sources and heating networks
The installed heat capacity of CHP-5 is 1874 Gcal/h, of CHP-6 is 1740 Gcal/h, of DH networks is 3106 Gcal/h, of Zhytloteploenergo is 1731 Gcal/h, of "Energia" Plant is 104 Gcal/h.
Distribution and transportation of heat to the consumers are fulfilled via pipeline network; the total length of which is 4500 km. The necessary hydraulic operating mode is provided by 19 pumping stations. Company owns and service over 2 300 heat substations.

Power Supply

Nowadays
The electricity consumption in Kyiv City in 2008 reached 8.1 billion kWh that is 5.0% from the total electricity consumption in Ukraine. This consumption is provided thanks to own production at CHPs (49.5%) and external city electricity supply networks (50.5%).
The annual increase of the electricity consumption in Kyiv is about 5.6% for 1.6% in Ukraine.
At present the electricity consumption in Kyiv in peak hours reached the normative capacity value of 110 kV transformer substations and amounts to 1700 MW.
The program of JSC Kyivenergo development till 2011 is worked out and is being approved by the Ministry of Fuel and Energy and Kyiv City State Administration.

The Future
Till 2011 it is planned the following:
- construction of 330/110 kV s/s Zakhidna;
- construction of 110/10 kV s/s Universytestka; Mystestka, Evropeyska, Vatutinska, Yelenivska-2, Rybalska, Olimpiyska with corresponding 110 kV cable lines;
- rehabilitation of 110/10 kV s/s Pyrogivska, Bykovnya, 110/35/10 kV s/s Voskresenska, 35/10 kV s/s Arsenalna, Garnizonna;
- rehabilitation of 110-330 kV interconnection at CHP-5 and rehabilitation of 110-35 kV switchyard;
- rehabilitation of 330 kV switchyard at CHP-6 and construction of 110 kV transit line CHP-6-Brovary.

Heat supply

Nowadays
Heat load of Kyivenergo's sources in 2006 was 6941.6 Gcal/h.
Since 1995 over 660 km of heating networks in single pipe terms were laid, over 210 km of them are preinsulated pipes.
Existing heating networks have exhausted reserves of capacity and cannot provide the connection of additional loading of new buildings.
The "Scheme of Kyiv heat supply till 2020" is designed.

The Future
The development of city will be provided by capacity build-up of power sources, construction of main heating networks, new pumping stations, installation of new more powerful equipment at pumping stations, installation of support valves on existing sections of heating networks.
According to the program of city development in order to provide the reliable and qualitative heat supply the following is planned: -
completion of 1st stage construction of CT-1; -
completion of Pozniaky Boiler Plant construction; -
rehabilitation of main heating networks and distribution heating networks.
One of the main tasks is the completion of construction of power generating unit No. 3 at CHP-6.

Energy savings

2228 heat measuring and consumption control units were installed. The process of automatic control provides efficient temperature schedule of heat supply.
In order to provide reliable heat supply of the consumers and reducing of technological losses during its transportation the use of preinsulated pipes (PIP) is provided in heating networks. At present over 285 km of pipelines were relayed in accordance with the PIP technology.
According to calculations of the Company’s specialists the total saving of fuel-power resources due to introduction of Kyivenergo’s energy saving measures in 2008 amounts to 2 145 тонн tons of equivalent fuel.
